Frisco was ranked as the fastest growing city in the nation in 2009; but this great city has humble beginnings as a small town that served wary settlers on cattle drives north from Austin. When the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway was later being built through the area, watering stations were needed for the steam engines along the route. The shortened name "Frisco" was eventually adopted by its proud citizens.
Now that the little town of Frisco is all grown up, our local families enjoy world class shopping & dining, sports events, and the arts. Good shopping is something we've come to expect in the Dallas Metroplex. Visit Stonebriar Centre, with its great department and specialty stores, a merry-go-round, movie theatre, ice rink and huge dining selection when you are ready for a break. For "not so traditional" shopping, visit downtown Frisco for specialty stores and the Frisco Farmers Market. Shed the stresses of everyday life (or all that shopping!) with spa treatments ranging from the latest therapeutic and fitness techniques to ancient oriental and Native American treatments at one of sixteen day spas. If you're ready to make Frisco your home, try searching for new real estate in Dallas.
Exciting sports and Frisco go hand-in-hand! The Frisco Rough Riders, a regional favorite, play minor league AA baseball in the Dr. Pepper Ballpark. For hockey action come see the Dallas Stars practice or the Texas Tornadoes locally as well. Frisco is also the home of Major League Soccer and the 2010 Western Conference champion team FC Dallas!

The Frisco Parks & Recreation Department is the winner of the 2010 Texas Recreation & Parks Society Gold Medal Award for Excellence. Frisco is also home to one of the largest, private collections of contemporary sculpture art.
