4 bedroom House for rentals by Owner
"My husband and I stayed here from 10/23 to 10/30. The fall colors were late this year due to unseasonably warm weather and this worked out for us as there were some pretty colors to be had this week, especially on the parkway! We enjoyed the location of this home as it is not far from grocery stores and it's easy to access Asheville. Property was very quiet in a quiet neighborhood and home was clean. The driveway is a little bit steep but we made it up just fine without 4WD. You just have to use caution turning around and backing out as there is a sharp drop near where you park. The balcony is very nice and you can see the mountains. Suzanne had great communication with us through all steps of the booking process and for every question we had, very responsive and helpful. We used the downstairs bedroom though the upstairs bed was larger and looked very comfy. The downstairs bed was firm enough and the only critique is that it is awfully loud when you get into it, turn over in the night or get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night. I'm really reaching here to come up with a critique of this place. There is a home directly behind the house that is not pictured but it sits higher up the mountain and the windows of the home would look naturally over the roof of this cabin. When you put the blinds down in the bedroom, they cannot see in. We enjoy privacy and the home behind us did not disturb us in any way. The good news is that Suzy's cabin is completely geared toward the mountain view so you're not looking at neighbors when in the living spaces. We would stay here again. It was comfortable for us and we felt safe in the area, which is just a quiet neighborhood. When coming to the Asheville area, I highly recommend eating at the quirky Stony Knob Cafe in Weaverville (a few minutes from Asheville) and if you are lucky enough to score reservations or are willing to show up at 5 to 5:30 to snap up bar seating: the Admiral. The deep dish pizza, duck confit eggrolls on wasabi mashed potatoes and beef carpaccio are great at Stoney Knob. The Admiral is very popular so you need to reserve far in advance or plan to eat early. The menu rotates but we loved the pork belly steam buns, steak tartare, vegetable dumplings in harissa sauce, veal sweetbreads, octopus and a few others. Rocky's Hot Chicken by this cabin is great too. DON'T MISS Old Europe Bakery in Ashveille or the decadent dark chocolate liquid truffle at French Broad chocolate lounge."
